Our Third Day as Refugees

Well, we're still in College Station today. Very grateful for electricity and options for things to do with John. We went to Research Park today while Kyle did some work. Granny and Papaw are having a ball enjoying their extended visit with the little one.

It's quite amazing to see the pictures of Galveston from the air. The way they refer to it as "The Island" it keeps reminding me of the TV show Lost. And seeing the lines of people at the grocery stores and gas stations is just mind boggling. Houston looks like a 3rd world country.

We're in touch with our neighbors and there is still no power in our neighborhood. Since we had no electricity our neighborhood gate was wide open the first night and there were a few unfamiliar cars roaming the neighborhood. One neighbor even had someone knock on the door at 4 AM and when they went down to answer the person went away. After that our homeowner's group decided to manually lock the gate during curfew hours which I'm really grateful for. Although the news reports seem to indicate there haven't really been too many incidents of looting so that is encouraging.

There's not much else to report...I'm just REALLY hoping we get power back soon.
