My Dear Anna Banana had her 18 month doctor appointment last week. Her stats:
Length - 31.5" (50%)
Weight - 20 lbs 14 oz (5-10%)
Head size - 18.25" (25-50%)
So she's an average-height lightweight. She took her 2 shots like a champ. A little crying but big brother deid his best to comfort her.
Anna is such a budding little "grill" (girl, in John's vocab world). She just seems SO "big girl" lately! Her face, her actions. It's amazing to see her growth in the past few months.
Three separate people at the doctor's office commented on her "spunkiness" and "spirit" and "wow, are you sure she isn't a red-head?!" Then, the next day her gymnastics coach said "I love Anna, she's such a Miss Sassafras!". So does that give you some insight on her personality?
She is a sweet and spunky little creature. The embodiment of "sugar and spice and everything nice". When she loves, she loves well. She gives sweet sugar kisses and very tight hugs. She likes laying her little head on my shoulder and cuddling up tight. John was not much of a cuddler so I do love that part of her sweetness.
She is also spicy. This week she started saying "nooooo!" and she says it with a furrowed brow and exactly how John says "No!" when he is being defiant and rude. YIKES! It's half funny and half annoying. She certainly let's you know her opinion on things and if she isn't in a lovey mood, she just isn't!
She is quite "athletic", as Kyle calls it. I think this just means she doesn't sit still. She likes to run and jump and dance. She actually likes being dogpiled by her brother. Sometimes I find John laying or rolling around on her and she laughs hysterically at this stunt. She is a climber. Yesterday as I was trying to do several things at once, everytime I turned around she was climbing on top of something: the coffee table, the dining room chair, standing on said chair, standing in her high chair seat! I'm not used to strapping her in because I never strapped John in. The spirit never "moved" him to move, shall we say? I was reminicing the other day that I never even used those seat belt buckles on shopping carts with John. Never. They are so gross and dirty and I hated to touch them and John always sat in the seat with hardly a wiggle. HA! I would never even dream of NOT strapping Anna in a shopping cart seat. Dirt be darned. That woman is a Houdini! She needs the strap and a Kid Club - remember The Club for car steering wheels? - they should make those for kids like the A - Mama
She looooves music. LOVES. MUSIC. I'm so glad I enrolled her in the Tots and Tunes class at my parent's church. We go on Fridays since John is in school and that is our little activity we do together. She claps and stands and tries to do all the hand motions. The principal at her little MDO school stopped me the other day and said "Your daughter loves music". Mrs. Thigpen said Anna is always front and center during music time stomping, clapping, and turning in circles when she hears songs. Doesn't surprise me but I'm so glad she likes to participate.
She also loves books. Almost as much as music, maybe more. I tell people they can be her best friend if they read her a book.
Feelin' the love.....
Not so much.....
Feeling sugary and happy....
Feeling spicy and serious......
Anna, you are so fun right now. We are impressed by how much you know and the new little words you say. Please keep growing into your little personality. We love you, sweet "grill" :)
