I'd Like To Report a Breakthrough

Regarding school/separation anxiety: John usually does OK as we walk into school but when he sees the teacher he throws his head back with a terrified scream while she carries him into the room. Yesterday I had prepared myself for this routine but when Mrs. Gehman offered her arms out John willingly went to her. I almost fell flat on my face. My little man didn't throw a fit. In fact he went to the table and began working on a puzzle. However, he had a suspicious eye on me and his lips were pursed as if to send a message that he was trusting me this time but I had better be back at 2 PM....OR ELSE, LADY. I left school on cloud nine.

So today I decided to finally go back to the YMCA. I had neglected working out because 1) I've been pregnant and didn't feel so great early on and 2) one day I did go to the Y and John went into hysterics when I left him in childcare. I felt bad traumatizing him every single day of the week (Sundays at the church nursery, Tues & Thurs at school, and the other days at the Y). So we just avoided the Y. Anyways, we went to the Y today and once again John was very compliant with me leaving him there. He actually willingly walked into the room without protesting. I am so excited that he turned this milestone finally!

Tomorrow is another school day. Let's hope the trend continues....
