Times Square with "Square"

Well, I ventured into the Big Apple today. I figured out the train situation which is all very new to me. I almost missed my NJ-NY train because the PA-NJ train ran late. That was a little hectic but otherwise a smooth trip.

Upon arriving at Penn Station, I ventured to the streets to meet up with Kimmie aka "Square" (This nickname my friends and I have lovingly bestowed is a funny story but we'll save that for another blog).

On my way to find Square, I found myself in the midst of some commercial shoot. A director guy was waving his arms wildly to hold back the pedestrians. I was confused. Some people were obeying, some were not. Now, being a polite Southern girl, I tend to listen to people when they tell me to do something. However, after a split-second I realized I needed to be somewhere. Forget his commercial shoot! I'm in New York with not a shopping second to spare! I motioned to him that I needed to cross the path of filming. As we communicated with this weird sign language he put his finger in front of his lips to hush me and the other by-standers. Then the man nodded that I could cross but indicated (by pointing at his eyes with his fingers formed in a "V") that I needed to look away from the camera as I walked through.....ooookkkkayy....So I kept on moving without looking at the camera. I think I was able to do that successfully. Who knows what the filming was for? If you see me on TV let me know.

Kim and I went to Dean and Deluca's for lunch. Then, I took a break and headed to 1 Rock (Rockefeller Plaza) to meet my new boss. Afterwards I found Square again and we headed off to Times Square where we HAD to stop for ice cream at yummy Cold Stone Creamery. Then we scooted across the street to watch Lara Spencer film her "Insider" (TV gossip show) segment intros on the sidewalk. That was way exciting to watch. She had the best shoes on too!

Speaking of meeting the new boss, I'm pretty excited about my new working situation. Seems that everything is falling into place very nicely. AND my start date has been pushed back a week which gives me another 7 days to happily & peacefully explore Philadelphia.

I think I'm gonna like it here :) Let's see what I have to say about that in the winter....
