Friday Night Rita Hurricane Party

Kyle & I are "hunkering down" this Friday night watching Hurricane Rita coverage. It's a bit comforting knowing that the storm is going to the east of Houston so my parents shouldn't get the worst of the hurricane although there will be some strong winds. I call my mom about every 2 hours to get updates. I last called in about 10 PM (CST) and she said there wasn't a lot of rain but the winds were picking up. I feel so sad for those who are in the direct path of the storm. I really pray that most people evacuated those areas close to the coast.

I have to say that CNN is so completely entertaining. It almost makes me wish we had cable. We went up to the club level of our building to watch the TV there. The main anchor was talking to a field reporter in Galveston. The field reporter was standing in front of a lit strip center with a large lit sign listing the stores in the strip center. The first question the anchor asked her was "Do you have power?" Kyle and I looked at eachother and immediately bust out in laughter. If you couldn't tell there was still power from the whole strip center being lit up in plain view, how did you even get that far in life, really? Even the field reporter asked the question twice because it was an unbelievably retardo question. When did CNN become a comedy channel?

In honor of the hurricane, Kyle and I decided to have a two-person Hurricane Party and venture out to our Rita's for....you guessed it...a Misto!

Here's a picture of us enjoying our favorite hangout tonight. Besides the Hurricane Party, it's doing laundry to distract myself from the impending doom (and to keep myself from bugging my parents every 10 minutes) and watching the Houston news via the Internet. Hope everyone stays safe! We love you
