There were 25 people in attendance at Trinity Baptist Church this morning. About 1/3 of the congregation is also the praise & worship team. We're 1300 miles away from being 2 random people among thousands in a church crowd. I realize how much I take for granted the people who actually get stuff done at church. Every individual at Trinity Baptist contributes to the day to day operations and, basically, survival of the church.
The people were very friendly and welcoming. Pastor Thompson spoke from the book of James this morning. Next week is a big outreach Sunday where fliers are mailed out encouraging the neighborhood people to visit the church. We brought home several folders with mailers, labels, and stamps to assemble and drop in the mail tomorrow.
It's definitely a different atmosphere than what we've been accustomed to but as we sang "Open the Eyes of My Heart" this morning I prayed that the Lord would indeed open the eyes of my heart to this new little church if this is where we're supposed to be. It may be small but they love the Lord and teach the truth and that's really all we're seeking.

maybe what God has brought you to Philly for is so that Kyle can get the managerial expertise y'all need to open your own misto chain down here in texas after he finishes. they sound really tasty, and they seem to be quite addicting.
