Today I have been obsessed with Hurricane Rita. Watching news reports and satellite video, I've been a little worried about my parents staying behind. I know there will most likely be power loss so I'm very upset about not having contact with my parents for some time. It really took my breath away to see all lanes of I-45 heading north and packed bumper to bumper. I felt a very sinking feeling in my stomach. However, at this point all we can do is pray for everyone's safety because there is nothing else to do.
(check out this blog for some pictures of an empty grocery store... http://blogs.chron.com/stormwatchers/ It makes me feel better that these people are all on the west side too, where my parents are. They're not the only ones staying behind apparently...)
On a happier note, the Aggie friend, Kara, that Kyle found on the Penn campus (who we watched the football game with last Saturday) invited me to a girls bible study/book club group tonight. She met these girls at a church in North Philly but, since the church is about an hour away and a lot of the girls have since spread out to other churches, she has decided to keep looking for a church closer in with members that live in our area of town. We discussed some options that we may try out in the next few weeks. Since Kara has a car, we can actually venture out to churches that are further than walking distance only! I'm so glad we've met her. It's nice having some friends here :)
Oh, and you know how yesterday I shared about Restaurant Week? Today I found out about something called Spa Week. In October there's a week where you can go to certain spas in the Northeast states and get a specific treatment (massage, mani/pedi, etc...) for $50. This is something I am definitely interested in. After all, I have to report it on the blog and in order to do that properly I have to experience it. right? of course.
