I'm a Takashimaya Redneck Woman

If Gretchen Wilson belting out "I'm A Redneck Woman" loud and proud this morning isn't enough to kick-start your day, I don't know what is. She was doing a mini-concert this morning for the Today show in Rock Plaza which I could see from the window. At least I saw the top of her head.

I did see the Habitat 4 Humanity project going on across the street. I took a picture for posterity. This was the view from the office. Habitat is good and all but I almost went berserky hearing the hammers going aaaalll day long. Just constant hammers pounding on wood. It never stopped. And it doesn't help that the plaza is surrounded by very tall stone buildings on all sides so the noise just bounces around like a raquetball. I think they're working all day and all night this week?

Kyle has a test tonight. I know he'll do great because he has studied so much and he is such a smarty pants. I even went to bed early yesterday so he wouldn't be tired. And that's a big thing for me....going to bed early and all.

Lori's NY Lunchtime Featured Store of the Week:
Takashimaya (www.takashimaya-sin.com)
Apparently this is a department store in Singapore. The fanciest department store I've ever seen. I'd call it a boutique department store. Square was dying to take me here so we went. She was so fascinated that in the clothes area they only display two of each item. Very chic. Less is more, right? All the items were SO unique and fabulous. They had a furniture area that was very Asian inspired, an accessory area that was very exciting with purses, jewelry, hats, and all the trinkets that make girls happy. I won't even SAY how adorable the baby department was. There were framed original Babbar lithographs for sale (a mere $600 each for the baby artist-lover in your life). I saw some baby suede Cole Haan-like moccasins that I just knew baby Jack would have looked like a total PIMP in! With hair like his, these shoes would have completely his "look". In the linen area, my olfactory senses overcame me because I smelled almost every candle/perfume/lotion/soap that I came across. In the garden area, every flower was so perfectly shaped that I thought they were all fake until I touched each one.

A shout out to my sister in law because it's Christina's birthday....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Love, Kyle & Lori
