The Unfortunate Chain Of Events

Well, today was to be the highly touted, much anticipated first day of "school" (Mother's Day Out) for John. It's a 2-day-a-week school but the requirements for this particular school were 1) to be able to walk, 2) to self-feed himself lunch, and 3) not need a morning nap. After a long summer of anticipation, gradually easing him into this schedule, and crossing my fingers that he would walk by the start of school...today was the big day. I spent the evening collecting and packing his bag with items from the checklist. Packed his little lunch with care.

This morning Kyle and I excitedly went into his room to take pictures of him waking up for his first day. When we turned on the light I noticed that my baby was sleeping in dried up remains of his own vomit. OH NO! What happened?! We didn't hear him cry last night. The poor guy just threw up and went back to sleep. There could be no pictures. This was disgusting. Kyle took him to the shower and cleaned him off. I started to feed him breakfast but he wasn't eating much so I decided to keep him home. I had to drop off my car at the shop so Granny entertained John while I was gone. Apparently he threw up what little Cheerios and banana he ate for breakfast while I was gone. The little man was so nervous about school that he made himself sick!! Kyle told John that this shouldn't become a pattern of playing hooky from school....

Alas, the first day of school was entirely anti-climactic. So Thursday will be our first day complete with pictures and all. Stay tuned!

I was bummed you couldn't make it! I prayed last night that the same thing wouldn't happen to Justin. All the preparations just for them to get sick. Apparently the teachers said it was a great first day! Lots of sand in teh shoes when they got home....

Well I certainly hope Thursday goes better for the little guy! We'll pray for a barf-free boy!
