Now, John has a history of being stand-off-ish (is that a word?) with his friend Gabby (who is turning 2 this month---an older woman) but a few days ago he decided it was OK to hold hands with her. HOW PRECIOUS! Let me tell you how cute it is to see them holding hands walking down the sidewalk together. Now they do it all the time but I always forget my camera when we're out but I have GOT to capture this soon. They are also big into hugging eachother and the other day they were holding hands and dancing in the street!! Melt my heart, seriously!
But I digress, we were playing with neighborhood friends this afternoon and I had forgotten that Kyle was going to a basketball game tonight until he called me at 5 PM to remind me that he was leaving the office to head to the game. I had to dig deep for my second wind of energy to get me through the rest of the evening.
I truly appreciate that Kyle's schedule is flexible enough that he is usually home at a reasonable hour to help me out in the evening. Especially now that I'm in that last trimester it is a BIG blessing to have him around as much as he is. So today I was especially feeling tired but John and I enjoyed a good evening. He even ate dinner which had spinach in it (truly a miracle).
So we finished reading our stories, saying a little prayer, and as John was cuddled up resting on my shoulder this evening (in the glow of the nightlight) all of the sudden he removes his paci, his face 3 inches from mine, and looks at me with his big blue eyes and says "dad-ee?" I know he was thinking "Wait a minute. I forgot to give Daddy his good night kiss? Where is he, Mommy?" Too adorable. I had to tell him that Daddy wasn't here and he could see him tomorrow. He did this about 3 times and he looked so sincerely sad I thought he might start crying. Thankfully he did not!
Now he is trying to sleep but I just had to blog about this interaction to help me remember this sweet moment!
