Went to New York today. I took my little rollie (rolling suitcase) because my boss asked me to haul 2 big heavy books from Philadelphia to New York and the weight of the books in my shoulder bag was enough to break my back. So the rollie was the transportation mode of choice and what a mess getting through the turnstyle in the subway! I got caught then the bag got caught and I clogged up the line during morning rush hour and an unhappy (and probably very ugly) man felt free to give me his opinion of my struggle with the luggage and turnstyle with some unkind words and of course I thought of a good retaliatory comment about 30 seconds too late. But that's OK. I realize people in NYC just have problems with anger management (all due to my earlier theories on mass transit commuting) so I was able to overlook it. I spent the entire subway ride thinking of a more efficent way to get my rollie out of the subway turnstyle and by the time I made it to my stop, after mulling over a few ideas, I came up with a sucessful patented Turnstlye Luggage Pass-Thru Maneuver.
It was a very busy day at work as it usually is in NYC. They ordered pizza for us and we worked through lunch. Always exciting to be chained to the desk with scarcely a moment to spare for a dainty break to the ladies room.
On the train leaving NYC two men got in an argument about seating arrangements and I thought about how normal it is to be rude to perfect strangers in this city. Again I am privy to yet another display of people with anger management issues....I was just thankful I wasn't the object of disgust this time. Where, oh where, did good old-fashioned tact and politeness go?
Kyle would like to report that on Friday he started a part time job! Hurray. He is working part time (10 hours a week) at a small oil & gas company here in town. He's excited about the good work experience he'll get working with these people.
That's all for tonight!
Eating Chinese food.
