Friday & Food!

Today I decided on a food truck that I will deem my "regular" food truck. I have gotten lunch from the food truck at the southwest corner of 20th and Market St for 3 days in a row and I calculated that at$2.75 for a decent sized (and filling) turkey hoagie, I cannot beat this price if I were to buy the ingredients myself and bring a sandwich to work every day. The Italian couple who runs the food truck is really nice. I think the guy recognized me as a triple header customer because when I arrived at the window he already knew "turrr-key?...wanna little must-ed, dahling?" No mayo here and he picked up on the fact that I had refused oil and vinegar on my sandwich for the past 2 days and he didn't even ask today. Now that's service. I was wary of food trucks for a while. It's taken me several months since moving here to get over the fact that people make your food. In a truck. WITH their bare hands. Along with handling money and change. Hmmmm....I just try to avoid watching them make the food and move on while thinking to myself "the acids in my stomach are very powerful to destroy germs". The rest of Philadelphia eats from them and they are surviving.

Unfortunately, we may not go to the Gardens this weekend. It's supposed to rain all weekend and all next week. What a bummer.

We received a mysterious package in the mail today (which is always exciting in itself) and it turned out to be a cute quilt from Aunt Mary with a sweet note. Thank you for thinking of us, Aunt Mary! It brought a smile to my face :)

Kyle took his mid-term accounting test last week. Today he received an email from his accounting prof that said in her 11 years of teaching this class is the smartest she has ever seen. They scored the highest average ever! This news comes with a tinge of scariness since the class is graded on a curve and while Kyle did great, his score is not in the top half of the class. This is discouraging to Kyle but what's important is that he passed and he's doing great!

Fridays are our nights to go explore the little restaurants sprinkled throughout our neighborhood. Center City is CHOCK FULL of cute little restaurants and the ones we visited so far have been excellent. We're off!!! Tonight it's a repeat at the Italian Bistro. They have great bread.
