So this weekend has been quite the job for me. My first time with the kiddos by myself. My mom did come over and help a bit on Thursday and again on Friday. I didn't get much sleep. I usually don't when Kyle isn't there. And Friday night John woke up screaming and crying and we had to repeat the story/prayer bedtime routine at 12:30 AM to calm him down and get him back to sleep. Then Anna woke up at 2:30 for a feeding--way earlier than the usual 4-5 AM. Not sure what was up that night?
Saturday morning we went to a friend's birthday party at the splash pad near the zoo. It was pretty dang hot but I was prepared to sweat. It does make a difference when you expect to be a sweaty mess rather than if it sneaks up on you when you are not prepared.
All my usual babysitters/family were occupied on Saturday so I finally let go of my desire to never ask anyone for help and asked my neighbor if she would mind watching Anna for a few hours so I wouldn't have to take her to the outdoor party. It was the biggest help ever. We are blessed to have such sweet neighbors. They love our kids and our kids love them. When I arrived to pick up Anna she looked like she was the happiest little baby all cuddled up, wide awake, and peaceful in Kathleen's arms. She loves her some good cuddling!
We're so glad to have Kyle back!!!! AND he arrived in Houston with Erin and the cousins (The Indonesian Bethancourts) who have been hanging out in California with Mam-maw & Grandpa. Let the Bethancourt summer family fun begin!
