Yesterday downtown Philadelphia was rocked by three transformer explosions underneath the building I work in. Dee emailed to ask what was going on in Philadelphia and I was confused because I was working in New York yesterday. She sent me this news link:

Apparently my building shook and everyone fled the building and it filled with some smoke. No one was seriously hurt but it was a little freaky as you can imagine. So today I'm back in Philly and everything/everyone is fine but I'm glad I wasn't here for the drama.
So as I was leaving the office yesterday I was asked to bring a box back with me to Philadelphia. Let me explain that this is no ordinary box. It measures about 4 feet long by 3 feet high and 8 inches wide, made out of foam board material. (It houses a model of one of the floors on our project but it was empty so it was very light)
I quickly learned my box was going to be cumbersome to carry onto the subway. At rush hour. When the trains are backed up and there are hordes of people trying to get on. So I waited patiently for the second train to show up lest I start a riot on the platform trying to shove in my big box AND my big booty. I looked really cool carrying my box and once I got to Penn Station I realized how many other people had suitcases with them. I thought to myself how funny it would be if people thought this giant foam board box was my suitcase....like maybe I couldn't afford a suitcase so I made one out of foam board. Carrying it by the little double handle made out of tape. HA! So, of course, my funny thoughts made me laugh and I'm sure there was more than one person stepping out of the path of "the girl with the big white box laughing for no apparent reason". Needless to say, my box and I made it to Philly just fine and I got a good chuckle out of it all.
