WOW. Have I been a busy bee. I'm taking a review seminar in preparation for 2 of my architecture exams: Structures & Lateral Forces. Yes, I can feel your jealously through the screen....delicious topics, I know. The seminar is Fri, Sat, & Sun 8 AM-7 PM. YIKES!
And the class is near Trenton, NJ so I get to drive my smokin' hot rented PT Cruiser 45 minutes each way to get there. Yeah, that's me toodling down I-95 in a purple-escent PT Cruiser. Or shall I say: my truncated hearse. No offense against those who may own that car but, come on, I feel like I'm hauling midget dead people between Pennsylvania and New Jersey and that's all I have to say about that.
The seminar is really informative and I feel I'm getting a lot out of it. It's affectionately known as "Structures Bootcamp" which I think is a deserved name since I've spent a cumulative of 24 of the past 36 hours calculating axial and perpendicular loads on beams and trusses....I mean, when was the last time you ever heard the term "moment of inertia"? Hopefully never but if you have it's probably been over a decade and you forgot the term anyway.
I'm almost into my 3rd decade of life....why am I dealing with this stuff? If I need to know what the moment force is about a cantilever beam I will dial my trusty structural engineer to get the answer and be done with it.....but let me step off my soap box.
We're watching the Aggie game but I'm going to have to turn in because tomorrow is the last day of Structures Bootcamp and I must get some sleep. I'll let Kyle finish off the game.
