Musings from Carmel, California....

Super Trooper
John was quite the trooper on Wednesday. After a 3.5 hour plane ride (which was just about the limit for the little guy) we rested at John and Debbie's house then headed out to Carmel in the evening. John did great in the car until we pulled into Carmel. The limit was pushed to the edge and John finally put his foot down. NO MORE CAR SEAT! Thankfully he went to bed immediately!

Come On?!
My one complaint about being on the west coast is that the Olympics don't start until 8 PM and the events you want to see don't end until 1 AM. Debbie and I resorted to taking naps in the afternoon so we could withstand the late nights and stay up for our favorite events. Another annoying thing is that you can't get on the internet or TV without seeing the results for the evening events. I really do not enjoy everything being spoiled for me.

Car Exhibition
On Saturday we headed to Pebble Beach to see the antique cars on display. It is always neat to see these cars and admire the amazing works of art they are. This is the second time we've been out here the same weekend as the Concours and it is just unbelievable to see all the antique and new cars. As we were walking back to the house via the golf course we saw Stedman Graham, Oprah's man, on the course. This is the second year in a row we've seen him playing Pebble Beach. Howdy Stedman!

Fancy Bling for a Fancy Lady
Kyle and I were strolling around town yesterday and I dragged him into Tiffany's. Because what girl doesn't like to admire some nice bling every once in a while?? My eye immediately spotted what looked like my engagement ring on steroids. A HUGE oval diamond. I love seeing ovals because they're kind of rare.
Me with eyes as big as saucers: How many carats is that ring?
Sales woman: 5.2 carats
Me: I'd like to try that one on
SW: Sure, but I'm going to have to ask you to sit over there (pointing to a chair with a burly 300 pound man nearby)
Me: (Whatever. I'll sit in a puddle of mud but I'm trying that thing on.) So how much is this?
SW: $250k
Me: Nice
SW: Yes that's a ten table ring--you can see that ring from 10 tables away
Me: I think a satellite could track you from outer space with that ring

So far that was the most exciting part of my shopping visit. I've never tried anything on that required a security man hovering over me.

We're headed back to Alamo today. Kyle has some meetings in San Fran through Wednesday. I'm going to join him in the city just for tonight. Hopefully we can go out to eat and then I'll return to Alamo on Tuesday. Hopefully I'll have more adventures to report later.....
