Flirting at the Park

On Wednesday day John polished his skills in the finer art of picking up older women. Cougars, shall we say? We were at the park. John was leaning on a ladder at the playground when she approached. Sydney, a kindergartener, was wearing a red and white checkered dress with white tights. She dug John's pirate shoes (and told him so) and John dug her toothy smile (she received $1 from the tooth fairy for her two top teeth). John smiled coyly and made some funny noises while Sydney made faces at him. It was a "date", albeit brief, at the playground. It all ended abruptly when John had to disengage from his flirtations due to an impending appointment with his crib. Naptime was approaching and it wasn't prudent to let Sydney see John go to "that place" of frustration and tiredness. John hitched a ride home with Mama and when we got home he gave me a sweeter smile than I saw him give Sydney. I am still #1 with the Little Mister!
