Blown Away

Well, being awoken at 1 AM to 50+ mph wind gusts was certainly not what I needed on a night when I had to wake up at 5 AM to go to NYC! Seriously I thought it was the end of the world! Now our windows aren't quite state-of-the-art weather-proof so there was this annoying whistling of the wind whipping in through the cracks. The wind was rattling the windows so hard it sounded like they were going to shatter inwards. Plus, we live on the 37th floor so it was probably even more windy up here. Kyle got up to check it out and decided we could hunker down in our hall closet if we needed shelter. Never been through that much wind for such a long period of time unless it was a hurricane.

The weather was the big news around these parts today. Click here for the news story from CNN. The train scheduled to leave before mine to NYC was an hour late so my train was super crowded this morning. Ah, the commuter life. NY was windy and rainy. The highlight of the morning was having my umbrella fly inside out as I walked to work. I got totally soaked. That'll wake you up in the morning. Quite a few others were battling it out with their umbrellas so I didn't feel as retarded with my umbrella wildly inverting and reverting.

Kyle met with the Donald Trump of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. He had a meeting in Harrisburg (this is the capital of PA, in case you were wondering) to get information for a school project. Pennsylvania has an archaic system for selling alcohol which requires all liquor to be sold through state-owned stores. For this reason, Pennsylvania is the world's largest single buyer of wine.

Well, I'm completely exhausted from my lack of sleep last night worrying if the 37th floor was going to blow off the building so I'm off to bed.

Good night!
